New York City's New Electronics Recycling Law is Extremely Strict

On July 1st, New York City is implementing one of the strictest electronics recycling laws in the country. After that date, it is illegal for residents of the city to dispose of virtually all consumer electronics in regular trash - including computers, cellphones, televisions and even rechargeable batteries. Here is a link to the City of New York how-to page for complying with the new law.

A coalition of electronics manufacturers, including the Consumer Electronics Association, is attempting to sue the city to prevent the law from becoming active, so this law is garnering national attention for what it forebodes for electronics recycling laws in other cities and states. We will keep you informed of developments in the coming weeks.

Greener Gadgets Fair

The National Greener Gadgets Fair will be opening on February 25th in New York. Online voting to determine the 17 finalists has finished, but seriously, check these projects out, some are very cool. My favorite? The InCharge Battery Station; you just toss your rechargeable batteries into it like a trash can, and it sorts and charges them without any other work from you! Tres cool.
